Suzanne Neville at the National Television Awards

Why we're still loving lace

Lace was a really strong trend again this year on the Spring/Summer catwalks with influential designers such as Valentino and Alexander McQueen featuring an abundance of lace as part of their collections.

And, as always, the stong trends from the catwalks have already been spotted on red carpets around the world...

Lace is one of the most fabulously versatile fabrics because - as we can see from the two very 'bridal-inspired' red carpet gowns above - lace can be structured and formal in a very demure and classical way, but it can also be very free-flowing and unstructured to create an image of opulent glamour or vintage bo-ho chic.

It is no wonder that lace is still strong in bridal fashion for 2012.  Below are some of our favourite lace gowns for every bride, whether you are hoping to create a classic, formal look or a vision of relaxed glamour...

New arrivals from Claire Pettibone...

We are very lucky ladies here today at Carina Baverstock Couture as we have just received two stunning new gowns from Claire Pettibone!

The first is the beautiful 'Crescent' which you may have seen in Claire Pettibone's gorgeous campaign photos in national wedding publications, and believe us when we tell you that it looks even more stunning in person.

The detail on this dress is enchanting and would work perfectly for a bride who wants to create a luxury, decadent, bo-ho image.

The second of our new gowns is 'Luna' with its figure-flattering soft floral overlay and opulent gold detailing; it is set to be a firm favourite with our brides.

This gorgeous gown is perfect for a bride who wants to dip into colour palettes outside of the classic ivory, while still remaining unmistakably bridal.

Pictures cannot do justice to the outstanding floral detailing and the subtle nuance of the colours - a real show-stopper.

Please do not hesitate to make an appointment to see these gowns in the boutique.
